Last Friday night, the Armenian Relief Society’s Erebouni Chapter of NY held a Choreg making lesson in the downstairs kitchen of our church and boy did the whole place smell divine. The head baker was U. Aline Kassabian and she shared her beloved mother Silva Zadourian’s recipe with the 20 plus ladies that attended. She had the assistance of U. Nayda Voskerijian and U. Vicky Hagobian and they helped her execute a two part lesson in successful choreg making. The first part consisted of how to make the dough, followed by how to shape the dough. Those in attendance got hands-on experience and even went home with some dough to bake a little batch the next day. The wonderful smell of the warm choreg got to the Nor Yeraz dancers who were at their usual Friday night practice. Of course, we shared our freshly baked choreg with them. After the lesson, all in attendance got a chance to socialize and enjoy some wine and cheese that was generously prepared by U. Madlen Hazarian and U. Argine Wanesian. It was truly a fun filled ladies night. Hopefully more interactive cooking lessons will be held going forward.
