On Saturday evening, St. Sarkis celebrated a truly spectacular evening of love and laughter in commemoration of Der Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie’s 20th anniversary of faithful, devoted service to our St. Sarkis community!  The community truly gathered as one family, united in faith, gratitude and joy for this unforgettable celebration!

It was a wonderful evening that gathered guests from around the world.  The anniversary celebration began with a beautiful prayer service in the sanctuary, where hundreds of guests gathered to express gratitude to God for blessing our community with Der Nareg's 20 years of faithful, loving, devoted service.  We thank the distinguished clergy who led the prayer service in honor of Der Nareg, to include Rev. Fr. Archpriest Mesrob Lakissian, Rev. Fr. Vahan Kouyoumdjian, Rev. Fr. Dr. Abraham Malkhasyan,  Ref. Fr. David Karamyan, and Apahayr Fr. Yeghia Kelaghbian who joined us from Armenia for this occasion.

The outpouring of love for Der Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie was palpably evident throughout the evening.   In homage to Der Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie’s powerful impact on our youth, Ms. AnnMarie Hazarian and Ms. Hasmig Mouradian lent their angelic voices to sing the American and Armenian national anthems.  Dr. Annita Nerses, Chair of the Board of Trustees, delivered a keynote address on behalf of the community that expressed our heartfelt appreciation for their indelible and powerful impact on the lives of each and every one of us.

A true highlight of the evening was an incredibly touching video tribute to Der Nareg’s life and ministry that profoundly moved the audience.  Many thanks to Greg Dosstur for producing this video that beautifully highlights important milestones in the life of Der Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie, as well as the immense impact of their dedicated service to our community.

The comedic genius, Kev Orkian, came all the way from London to brilliantly entertain us. For 90 minutes, the audience experienced a range of emotions from roaring laughter, to deep sentiment and longing for our homeland as Kev performed his own solo piano compositions that were inspired by the holy Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenian identity.  Thank you, Kev Orkian for so beautifully capturing the spirit of our St. Sarkis community and beloved leader, Der Nareg Terterian --- in doing so, you captured our hearts!

The delicious meal was prepared by Edy Massih of Edy’s grocer, a celebrity chef from Brooklyn was has been featured on the Today Show as one of New York’s top chefs!

We extend heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated, hard-working Committee members who worked together with tremendous love and commitment:  Mrs. Zepiur Ardzivian, Mr. Veh Bezdikian, Mr. Geg Dosttur, Mrs. Lena Felice, Dr. Hagop Gorgissian, Mr. Michael Gostanian, Mr. Harout Khatchadourian, Mrs. Alina Kochoumian, Dr. Louiza Kubikian, Mrs. Salpie Megerian, Mrs. Jeanette Nenejian, Mr. Raffi Nenejian, Mrs. Sonya Nenejian, Dr. Annita Nerses, Mr. Harry Seoylemezian, and Yn. Annie Terterian, our honorary Committee Chair.

The Board of Trustees thanks our incredibly benevolent sponsors who continue to lovingly donate in support of Der Nareg’s ministry and our St. Sarkis Church.   This event would not have been possible without your generous support.

Der Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie, thank you for 20 years of service and for showing us that true leadership is rooted in love, that true strength is found in humility, and that true empowerment is found in Christ. You are a divine gift to our Church and to all who know you. May your future continue to shine as brightly as the light you brought into our lives 20 years ago.
