On Friday, November 14, 2025, the clergy of the Eastern Prelacy gathered in New Jersey for a special conference with His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, held in honor of the 30th anniversary of his enthronement. Archbishop Anoushavan welcomed His Holiness on behalf of the pastors and thanked him for his continued support, especially in sending members of the Cilician Brotherhood to serve the Prelacy.
Rev. Fr. Hrant Kevorkian of St. Sarkis Church in Detroit opened the program, and Very Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian, pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Philadelphia, chaired the conference. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Francis McAloon of Fordham University, who spoke on the priestly vocation and the pastoral challenges facing clergy in contemporary American society. A thoughtful discussion followed.
In his concluding message, His Holiness Aram I emphasized several core points:
Clergy Are Called to Serve: The priesthood is defined by selfless service, not personal interest or professional ambition.
Ministry Is a Spiritual Vocation: Clergy must avoid approaching their work with a business mindset and remain spiritually available to their communities at all times.
A Wake-Up Call for Modern Clergy: Misunderstandings about the role of the clergy are increasing, making ongoing reflection essential.
Education in Proper Balance: While education is important, it must never overshadow the spiritual mission of the priesthood.
Credentials Must Lead to Service: Diplomas hold value only when they translate into meaningful pastoral work.
The conference concluded with a fraternal luncheon led by His Holiness, bringing the clergy together in fellowship and renewed dedication to their calling.
