Deacon's Day

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the community of St. Sarkis Church honored our church's deacons as we celebrated the feast of St. Stephen, the first deacon and the first martyr of the church. In his sermon, Father Nareg spoke about St. Stephen, referencing the Book of Acts in the New Testament. He also discussed the important role of deacons in the church and shared his personal experiences from his time as a deacon. 

At the conclusion of Badarak, the deacons donned priestly crowns and offered incense at the altar while the choir sang a beautiful hymn dedicated to St. Stephen. Deacons Michael Gostanian, Bedros Kalajian, Zaven Varjabedian, Berdj Agopian, Raffi Nenejian, and Razmik Nenejian received special blessings for their continued strength and dedication.
