St. Sarkis Annual Picnic 2025: A Celebration of Faith, Service, and Community

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the St. Sarkis Church family gathered for its much-anticipated Annual Picnic. While the event itself was just one day, in reality, the effort spanned three days—purchases began on Thursday, preparations continued all through Friday, and the finishing touches carried into Saturday morning. What emerged was not only a joyful community gathering, but also a testament to the spirit of love, service, and teamwork that binds us together.

A Spirit of Service

More than 60 dedicated volunteers worked seamlessly across every aspect of the picnic, showcasing an incredible bond of cooperation and devotion. As Fr. Nareg reflected, the greatest treasure of the day was not measured in numbers or finances, but in the unity of spirit and commitment to the church community.

A Fresh Layout and Lively Atmosphere

This year’s picnic introduced a new layout, with several large tents thoughtfully arranged to maximize coverage and protection from the weather. Stations were well-staffed with volunteers eager to serve. Among the highlights was Der Nareg himself, delighting guests with his famous coffee drinks, while the Ladies Guild provided professional service and delicious homemade pastries. The grill team served up classics to perfection, refreshing beverages were in steady supply, and the raffle team kept the excitement going with lively ticket sales. Music provided by one of our talented young parishioners gave the day a joyful soundtrack.

The menu featured both traditional favorites and new dishes, offering something for everyone and adding fresh variety to the day’s culinary experience.

Dancing Through the Storm

Although the weather was favorable early on, the skies eventually opened with torrential rain. Yet, rather than dampen the spirit, the downpour sparked an unforgettable moment: a spontaneous dance led by committee members, with Fr. Nareg and Yeretzgin Annie joining in. Their joyful dancing in the rain became a symbol of the community’s resilience and the unshakable joy of the day.

A Day of Joy and Gratitude

Despite the rain, the picnic was filled with laughter, reunion, and renewal of friendships. Children enjoyed rides and activities, while parishioners of all ages gathered to share in food, fellowship, and fun.

We extend heartfelt thanks to our picnic chairs, Razmik Nenejian and Simon Bardizbanian, whose leadership guided this year’s event to success, as well as to every committee member and volunteer whose time, energy, and dedication made it possible. Special appreciation also goes to our sponsors, food and raffle donors, and all who purchased raffle tickets—your generosity greatly contributed to the success of Picnic 2025.

In the end, beyond the meals, music, and even the rain-soaked dance, the true success of Picnic 2025 was the reminder that at the heart of St. Sarkis Church lies a vibrant, loving, and faithful community.
