Tenebrae Service (“Khavaroom”)

The ceremony of washing feet was succeeded by the Tenebrae service, a distinctive and contemplative observance referred to as Eclipse “Khavaroom”. This service commemorates the betrayal and suffering of Jesus Christ. Seven gospel passages recounting the events of Jesus’ passion were read aloud, accompanied by the chanting of hymns and psalms. Fr. Nareg delivered a homily reflecting on the spiritual journey, suggesting that by walking with Jesus through the garden of Gethsemane, the faithful are called to return to the garden of Eden and to consider the deeper meaning of faith and redemption.
