On Sunday, June 9, St. Sarkis proudly honored our 2024 graduates during our beloved annual “Sunday of Graduates” event. The celebration began with a short ceremony in the midst of the Badarak service during which Der Nareg blessed the graduates and placed symbolic stoles around their necks in honor of their outstanding achievements.  The event also included a very special presentation of the second annual Karnig Alajajian Scholarship award to two exceptional recipients.

Following Badarak and the blessing, there was a lovely luncheon and cake cutting ceremony in the Main Hall, where the impressive biographies of each graduate was read aloud, and Der Nareg provided each student with a treasured gift. Der Nareg expressed how proud he is of their accomplishments, and his deep joy in having the opportunity to witness the blossoming of these young adults since they were born.

Congratulations to our High School Graduates:

  • Andrew Gorgissian, graduating from Chaminade High School and attending University of Georgia in the fall where he’ll be studying accounting while on a pre-medicine track;
  • Eddy Hazaryan, graduating from Bethpage High School and attending Baruch College to pursue a degree in Accounting;
  • Daniel Kasparyan, graduating Commack High School and attending Suffolk Community College to major in Digital Media and Animation;
  • Isabelle Keshishian, graduating from Roslyn High School and attending Long Island University (Post) where she’ll be majoring in Psychology and Horseback riding for their D1 equestrian team.
  • Nectar Mouradian, graduating from Manhasset High School and attending Colgate University where she’ll be studying Education.
  • Andre Tavitian, graduating from Harborfields High School and will be attending Stonybrook University where he’ll be studying Economics and Finance.

The day’s events also included a very special presentation of the second annual Karnig Alajajian Scholarship, awarded to Andrew Gorgissian and Nectar Mouradian for their academic achievements and their unwavering commitment, participation, and leadership within the St. Sarkis community. Congratulations to our Scholarship awardees!

We wish to express our deep appreciation to Mr. Karnig Alajajian for his generosity, encouragement, and support to our St. Sarkis youth. The impact of this scholarship extends beyond financial, as Mr. Alajajian continues to model for our youth the importance of giving back to their community and Church. This scholarship will serve as a source of inspiration for our talented youth to reach their full potential.

We wish our graduates great success!
