Salt & Light Youth Ministry Relaunches for the 2026–2027 Season
On Friday, September 25, 2026, St. Sarkis Armenian Church joyfully relaunched the 2026–2027 fall season of Salt & Light Youth Ministry. Even with a nor'easter heading our way, more than 65 kids, 10 graduates, and 15 facilitators came together, and it was a blessing to see the smiles on everyone's faces.
As always, the evening began with dinner and fellowship. Meanwhile, Fr. Nareg and Mrs. Nyrie Bedrossian, director of Salt & Light Youth Ministry, held an information meeting for parents. They showed the video prepared for Salt & Light's 10th anniversary celebration, presented the mission and purpose of the ministry, and exchanged ideas with parents. Jack Abajian, a Salt & Light graduate, shared how the ministry shaped his faith and spiritual journey, and how it continues to guide him today as an Armenian Christian.
After dinner, the youth joined their facilitators for breakout sessions. This season's lesson plan, "Kingdom Living," is divided into four sessions. The first focused on responding to Jesus' calling and stepping out of our comfort zones. Each group opened with a short prayer in Armenian or English, inviting the presence of God. Then, guided by their facilitators, the kids shared their thoughts and experiences, encouraged one another, and talked about facing their fears.
Following the breakout sessions, the groups made their way to the sanctuary with their leaders, where Fr. Nareg closed the evening with an inspiring message. Drawing on his own experience, he spoke about facing life's challenges and overcoming the fears that keep us in our comfort zones.
As with every session, the night ended with dessert, lovingly prepared by our amazing ladies and helpers.
We look forward to growing in faith together as one big family of God, helping and encouraging one another through every step and every fear we face. We will continue with the second session of "Kingdom Living" next month.
