Last Sunday, December 21, 2025, the St. Sarkis Church community joyfully honored our parish deacons as we celebrated the Feast of St. Stephen, the first deacon and the first martyr of the Church. During his sermon, Father Nareg reflected on the life and witness of St. Stephen, drawing from the Book of Acts, and highlighted the vital role deacons play in the life and ministry of the Church.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy (Badarak), the deacons donned priestly crowns. They offered incense at the holy altar as the choir beautifully sang a hymn dedicated to St. Stephen. Deacons Michael Gostanian, Bedros Kalajian, Berdj Agopian, Raffi Nenejian, and Razmik Nenejian received special blessings as the parish expressed its gratitude for their continued service, strength, and dedication to the Church.
We thank God for our deacons and pray that the example of St. Stephen continues to inspire their ministry and our community of faith.
