This past Saturday was a truly meaningful and heartfelt day for the community of Suzanne and Hovsep Hagopian Saturday School, as students, the PTA, and school administration came together for a special author visit that beautifully combined joy, learning, and compassion.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all of our families whose support made this event so memorable. The excitement and happiness shared by the children throughout the day were a powerful reflection of the strong and caring community we are so fortunate to have.
Since 2020, our PTA has had the profound honor of sponsoring three siblings—Alik, Amalia, and Anoush Manoukian—Children of Fallen Heroes from Artsakh. Through our annual contribution, we strive not only to support their daily needs but also to remind this family that they are embraced by a community that cares deeply for their well-being.
As part of this ongoing mission, we were delighted to welcome author Sofia Viana Ogulluk, who presented her newly published children’s book, The Boreg Meets the Bird. Her visit filled our Pagoumian Hall with warmth, creativity, and inspiration, as students engaged in storytelling, interactive activities, homemade boreg tasting and a memorable book signing experience.
In a remarkable act of generosity, the author donated 100% of the proceeds from book sales to benefit the children we sponsor. We are especially grateful to the author’s parents, whose extraordinary kindness led them to match the proceeds from the book sales, doubling the impact of this effort. Their generosity significantly strengthens our ability to continue supporting this family and brings even greater hope for the future.
This event was more than a school visit—it was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together with compassion and purpose.
We thank you all for your unwavering support, generosity, and dedication. Together, we are not only educating our children, but also instilling in them the enduring values of empathy, kindness, and giving.
With gratitude and blessings,
PTA & School Administration
