This past Sunday, October 20 th , the St. Sarkis community came together to pay tribute to our
beloved benefactors, Suzanne and Hovsep Hagopian. At the end of the Divine Liturgy when it
was time for the requiem service, the members of the different auxiliary bodies stood in the
middle aisle and in the pews with lit candles remembering this very caring and generous couple.
Those present were the students and staff of our Saturday School, which bears their name, the
Ladies Guild, and the Board of Trustees. It was very meaningful standing there remembering
and honoring them and the legacy they have left behind. Afterwards, the congregation headed
downstairs to the main hall to have a nice lunch together in their honor. All auxiliaries
participated and prepared the lovely buffet. Der Nareg said a few words about Mr. and Mrs.
Hagopian. They had no children of their own but loved and believed in the children of our
community, our future. Mrs. Hagopian was often called Mother Suzanne. Their generosity
helped our church get through some difficult years and continues till this day. We are and will
continue to be grateful to them.
