The first-ever St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church Golf Outing took place on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington, New York. The outing included a full breakfast with an omelet station, lunch at the turn, beverages on the course, and a Champions Dinner banquet.
Close to 60 golfers competed in a scramble format. The team of Harry Seoylemezian, Greg Seoylemezian, and Mario Tomei won the event. Steve Vosbikian won the Longest Drive contest, and Greg Kochoumian won Closest to the Pin.
Local businesses sponsoring the outing included event sponsors Bardizbanian & Associates, P.C. (Simon Bardizbanian, Esq. & Nazareth Markarian, Esq.) and Trolydia Engineering (Edward Torossian, P.E.), as well as dinner sponsor Intrepid Networks (Annita Nerces, Ph.D.). The ARF New York “Armen Garo” Gomideh and Homenetmen New York were also major sponsors.
“The outing was successfully planned and very well executed; everyone had a lot of fun, and it was a really lovely day,” said golf participant and ARF New York Gomideh member Neiri Amirian. “It was great seeing old friends and making new ones, and I am looking forward to next year,” said Board of Trustees (“BOT”) member and volunteer Vicky Hagobian.
The event concluded with a dinner banquet attended by over 100 golfers, their families, and New York Armenian community members. Fr. Nareg Terterian welcomed the attendees and opened the program with a prayer. He spoke about the community's vital role in the Christian faith. He mentioned that this is one of many unique events organized by St. Sarkis Church that focus on community building.
He also thanked the organizers for their leadership and the event sponsors for their generosity. BOT chair Dr. Annita Nerses echoed his sentiments, expressing her gratitude to the participants and volunteers.
The dinner ended with a raffle drawing that included New York Jets tickets, jewelry, a women’s beauty basket, and many golf-related prizes. Everyone left happy, inspired, and excited for next year’s event.
