Youth Club Meeting in October Reported by: Nevair Oranjian
The St. Sarkis Church Youth Club gathered for their monthly meeting on October 23, 2015. The topic of discussion for that night was the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14). Der Hayr and all 24 participants read the parable together then discussed the meaning of the parable, and interpreted the behavior of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Attendees were able to describe some reasons why each person behaved the way they did, as well as discuss how the actions of the pharisee and the tax collector would be seen in today's society. After learning that the tax collector's actions were a sign of humility, all attendees spoke of a time in their lives in which they were humbled. The group also answered some questions that would ultimately determine if they behave more like the pharisee or more like the tax collector. All in all, the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector sparked an interesting conversion among the group and helped the youth learn more about themselves. At the end of the evening, the Youth Club celebrated member Arev Ebrimian's birthday with refreshments.
