Senior Citizens
In 1994, the Faith and Mission committee of bible study group introduced the idea of having a weekly Senior Citizen Day at St. Sarkis Church, with the purpose of promoting spiritual growth, informational awareness and social interaction among the elderly. Since then every Wednesday they get together from 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.
What happensThe members are picked up by the St. Sarkis Church Bus.
The first order of the gathering starts with coffee and cake, then at 11:30am there is a short Bible reading and explanation in Armenian. At 1:00 o'clock a delicious home made prepared lunch is served which sometimes is provided by participating donors. After lunch is cleared, the cultural part of the program begins. Some members are talented in recitation, such as poetry or song, others enjoy Armenian dancing and still others enjoy telling jokes. Videos of different events in the "Homeland" demonstrated.
Activities end at 3:00pm
