The 13th annual St. Sarkis Summer Camp has come to a bittersweet end. This wonderful summer camp has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings, this year with over 100 campers eager to see the fun that was planned each day. In the first week campers enjoyed various activities including arts and crafts, sports, improvisation in drama, learning to sing some Armenian hymns in music, jumping around in the bouncy castle , and water activities.
They also had workshops that included a puppet show where they made their own puppets, a comedy show, the Fun Bus, animal show, a Mad Science show, and a Lego workshop where they became mini engineers building motorized Lego structures with coding technology!
After an action packed first week, the fun wasn’t quite finished. In the second week, in addition to more sessions of arts and crafts, drama, sports and music, the campers enjoyed a magic show, a trip to the movies to see Hotel Transylvania 3, and of course the water park on the closing day of camp.
They also received a special visit by His Eminence Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan and Mr. Antranig Boudakian and the children sang a few songs for them. In addition, the campers also got the chance to go up to the sanctuary with Der Nareg to learn about our faith and the Armenian church, where they asked many insightful questions.
This incredible camp would not be possible without the hard work of its wonderful staff and the many generous donations from members of the community. We are grateful for a successful year and look forward to next year for our 14th season!
Der Nareg would like to thank all of the summer camp parents and children who donated to a summer camp for orphans in Armenia. We were able to raise $2,020.00 through your generous donations.
